Rahul Shah is a Houston-based actor, filmmaker, model, and musician. He was born and raised in Houston, TX. His parents immigrated to the U.S. from India in the 1980s. Rahul is multilingual in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Spanish. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston, with a minor in Mathematics. He is currently an active student at the Film Acting Academy in Houston under the instruction of founder and director Lee Stringer.

Rahul has a background in both western and eastern classical music. He began taking tabla and drum lessons from a young age. Rahul began his career as a musician during his college years, performing at weddings and receptions as a means of income while he went to school to pursue engineering. He was a part of an acapella group called Dhun Acapella and competed in various competitions at the regional and state-level. He plays various percussion instruments, including Western drums, tabla (an Indian barrel drum), dholak, and dhol. During his junior year of college, Rahul joined Riyaaz Qawwali, a U.S. based South-Asian ensemble performing qawwali music, as a percussionist and has been with the group for approximately eight years.

Looking to expand his interests and passion in the performing arts, Rahul sought guidance to pursue a career as an actor. He began his career by auditioning for various projects and has received training in both monologue work and commercial scripts. Rahul has acquired both film and theatre experience in his time as an actor. He’s had lead and supporting roles in several short films during his career, exploring a wide range of genres, including horror, crime thriller, drama, and comedy. He’s worked as a Super in the production Salome at the Houston Grand Opera and had the opportunity to have a lead role in an original screenplay, Forget Me Not, shown at MATCH Box Theatre in Houston, TX. Rahul’s also written, directed, edited several short films and sketches and is a active member of the Houston-based media company, In The House Media. Rahul has worked as a background actor on two major productions: The Chosen Season 5 and the Netflix series Mo Season 2. He’s done a print shoot for the global employment website, Indeed.com.
